Dumbledore always gave second chances, which was why when Tom Riddle asked to be the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, he was gladly given the position. In doing this, Riddle became just that: an ordinary Slytherin alumni of his beloved Hogwarts, on top of being a Professor. Any trace of Voldemort died with the words the Headmaster had said during that meeting. Riddle's good looks returned to him, and he remained forever grateful.
“Thank you, Headmaster. I will do my best to prove myself.”
It's the Summer of 1978; it's the beginning of the end for our beloved Marauders'. The joyous days of school-aged bliss rapidly departing as reality sinks in. But without a Dark Lord hanging over their heads, and without the threat of impending doom, life should be exhilarating and free. Right?
