"So, Addie, what`re we gonna eat today?"
The young man asked himself, eying his cupboard hungrily and rubbing his beard as he thought. In front of him was a shelf completely filled with cereal boxes; Fruit Loops, Corn Pops, Lucky Charms, Trix, and tons of other cereals filled with sugar and artificial flavoring. Just the way he liked it. Raekwon had chewed him out when he had come home, shopping bags full of cereal boxes, but really, what else would you expect when you sent Addison to the story with the orders to get some cereal? Addie smiled and picked up the Golden Crisp box, prancing over to a different cupboard. He set down the cereal and reached up on his tippy-toes, his fingers just barely grazing the huge bowl with the giraffes all over it. Rae had put it up there because it wouldn`t fit anywhere else, but even he couldn`t reach it. Addie pouted for a second, then ran off, returning with a chair he had stolen from the living room. He clambered onto it, then reached up, grinning triumphantly as he grabbed the bowl and climbed back down. Still looking a little smug [heck yeah, he`d gotten down the GIRAFFE BOWL], he poured the cereal and fished through the fridge for the milk. Beer, no. Juice, no. Soy milk? Ew, who`s was that? He made a face and grabbed the milk [which had been hiding behind the apple juice] and pranced back over to the cereal bowl.
Once he`d fixed his cereal and finally found a spoon , he wandered over to the couch, biting his lip. Rae usually didn`t let him sit on the couch when he was eating, but, milk couldn`t stain, could it? At least, not white things, right? He looked around nervously, even though his roommate wasn`t here, then sat down, still looking a little nervous. He curled up on the couch and stuck the spoon in his mouth, balancing the bowl in his lap and reaching for the remote. He grabbed it [miraculously not spilling the cereal] and turned on the TV, changing it to Comedy Central and glancing at the front door. Rae-Rae hadn`t been here when he`d woken up, and he wasn`t exactly sure where he was. This wasn`t all too unusual, but sometimes his friend came home in a really bad mood, and he didn`t really want to get caught eating in the living room if he came home in one of these moods.
He fought with himself for a moment, then just turned back to the TV, taking the spoon out of his mouth and starting on his cereal. He curled up a bit more into the couch, watching the screen through his legs, the bowl balanced on his stomach, which turned out to be a bad idea; the channel he was watching really did live up to his name. Addie started laughing at something, and stopped paying attention to the bowl full of milk [he`d eaten the cereal]. He froze when he felt the sudden loss of weight on his stomach, and looked fearfully next to him. "Shit." He cursed softly, picking up the giraffe bowl and placing it on the little glass coffee table in front of the couch. "Shit, shit shit shit." He ran into the kitchen, trailing a line of curse words behind him as he grabbed a wad of towels and ran back, pressing it to the wet part of the couch. "Don`t stain, milk, pleeeaaasssseee." He pleaded, picking up the towels and looking at the couch. There wasn`t really anything to show that he`d spilled something; just a few crumbs, and the fact that it smelled like milk. He pressed the towels back to the spot, then suddenly thought of something. Where was the spoon?
Aw, dangit. If Rae found that, he`d get busted for sure. Addie frowned and looked under the glass table, not trusting the glass to tell him the truth, then peeked under the couch, smiling as he saw the soft glint of silver. He reached into it, then frowned as his hand closed over something unfamiliar. What was this? He pulled it out, then gasped and dropped it immediately, scrambling back a little bit.
It was a freaking gun.
Addie eyed it fearfully, then picked it up by the handle with two fingers. He`d never actually seen one before; a water gun, yeah, but not a real one. How did these work, anyways? He smiled suddenly, his fear of the gun completely forgotten. He`d seen how the guys on video games worked these; you pulled back this thing right here [he forgot what it was really called], and then all you had to do was pull the trigger. He stood up, pulling the safety back and pointing it at things around the room, keeping his finger resting on the little guard thing in front of the trigger. He pointed it at the front door, pretending to aim it at some imaginary bad guy.
And then the door opened.

HE MIMICKS AND HE MOCKS IT, but he cant remember how to stop it “E-excuse me sir, do you need help with something?”
The sales girl asked timidly slightly afraid of the tall brooding gentleman who her boss told her to trail after. He had entered the store rather in a rough manner, slamming the door and simply disappearing into the aisles without another word. It was common to think the worst of a shady character like that, especially if they hardly showed their face. Watching the boy turn around slowly almost in a cold manner, the young girl started to wish that she had never left behind the counter. The boy faced the girl, standing straight and tall an engraved frown wearing down his delicate features. His hood from his hoodie and baseball cap shaded most of his face while his eyes hid away behind shades. “A-ah…sorry for bothering you!” the sales girl said squeezing her eyes shut as if she were about to experience a world of hurt soon.
“Excuse me?” The boy said his deep voice deep and hard. “S-sorry!” the girl apologized once more turning around to retreat.
Taken back for a moment the boy quickly stepped forward taking the girl’s hand gentle to prevent her from running away.“Ah! W-wait” the boy said his voice softening in tone. “I actually do need help” he smiled chuckling a bit. The girl looked at the boy amazed, instantly as the boy’s lips played into a smile his previously intimidating demeanor suddenly shattered. With a simple smile the boy’s character didn’t come off as one that one would want to run away from, but actually come closer towards. The two of them stood there in a more comfortable silence until the boy jumped abruptly. He let out a disappointed sigh slightly rubbing his temples. “Shit…I’m sorry my manners suck today” He took down his hood with one swipe of his hand and raised his hand to take off his shades. Pocketing them carefully in his pocket he looked back up once more his dark chocolate meeting the girl’s hazel. His polite gesture continued as he held his hand out. “I’m-“
“Oh my god, Raekwon Burton right?” the girl said in a mixture of surprise and star struck.
Raekwon’s sheepish smile turned into that of sheer shyness as he looked away. Laughing at the sudden recognition he felt slightly guilty for not knowing the girl. He never got the picture that he was supposed to be this some ‘celebrity’. Raekwon kept his cool exterior but he truly was flattered on the inside. He knew that his band WONDERFUL was popular, but he didn’t exactly expect to be noticed. Raekwon was a humble guy, he was just happy that he got to play his drums and hang with his friends. He knew they were good, but to think they would have as big of a fan base as they had today? That was something that even he couldn’t dream of. But it happened.
“No… my name’s Deshawn…” Raekwon joked, though he kept a scarily straight face. He watched as the girl’s face soon showed disappointment as she muttered a simple oh. He stifled a laugh before he finally gave himself up. He hugged her in the brotherly manner that Raekwon was known for on and off the stage. Rae was a giant teddy bear once you got past his sometimes scary aura. And he was simply big on hugs. “I couldn’t help it” he admitted guiltily. He glanced around the candy shop once more and felt slightly slow as he almost forgot why he came in here in the first place. “Oh! By the way, I was wondering if you guys could make me a huge basket of chocolate”
Taking a survey of the place once more he started to walk through the aisle he was currently in with the girl following close behind. “Yeah, a huge ass…” Raekwon started but caught himself, “Uh excuse the language” he smiled quietly continuing on always being mindful of the person he was with. Even if he was a twenty first century gentleman the boy blew it big time when it came to using curse words in a colorful manner.
” …Basket… Throw in everything a chocolate love would dream of…reeses…kisses…milkeyways…three musketeers…” he said slowly while he used his fingers as a visual aid ticking off every chocolate he could think of. “Oh! And go heavy on the snickers. That would be hella appreciated” he said with a small earnest smile. He rubbed the back of his neck feeling a little bit odd for asking the girl. His reasons for asking for such a thing wasn’t typical as people would think. It defiantly wasn’t some weird out of nowhere holiday that he celebrated. He didn’t exactly have a girlfriend for the sheer fact that it was obvious that he was gay… or rather it was obvious to him and people just didn’t want to accept it. And no, as much as Raekwon loved himself he would never buy himself a basketful of chocolates.
Mainly because he hated chocolate. Go figure.
In truth the basket was his way of apologizing to his one of his best friends Addie. He and Addie though an oddly paired pair were fairly close. Which made Raekwon even worse considering the way he acted when he came home. Rae wasn’t the type of person to ignore things easily, and he knew for the past week he came home pretty pissy. Waving the girl off as she went to fill his request he remained standing there alone.
As if on cue as soon as the girl disappeared around the corner his frown resurfaced. He groaned inwardly as he leaned on one of the shelves. He didn’t travel four hours away into Liverpool to this specific candy shop just for anything. He felt that he needed to apologize to Addie properly, which also translated to buying him out with a huge amount of chocolate. To him, he acted like a serious ass whenever he came home and that never was cool in Rae’s book. Especially when Addie did that thing where he welcomed him and all Raekwon did was brush him off and slam the door of his room. Things hardly pissed Rae off, let alone made him act like he did the past week but whenever it came to the shades business he always felt off edge. And as much as he was concerned with patching things up with Addie [ in his mind ] his apology wasn’t the only thing that brought him here back to his hometown.
Four seventeen am in the morning.
Raekwon woke up groggily to his cell phone ringing. Sitting up in bed after going to sleep a mere hour ago, he rubbed his eyes to rid away the sleepiness. Most of his friends were crazy and it wasn’t unusual for them to call him this late into the night, or rather this early in the morning. But as Raekwon’s senses became more sharper his ears recognized the ringtone. The ringtone that he always dreaded to hear. It was one of the Shades.
Raekwon grasped the phone in his hands suddenly swinging his legs over the edge of his bed. He looked at the caller id and a daunting feeling came upon him as he saw who it was. Looking towards his bedroom door and seeing it open he quickly got up and made sure Addie wasn’t awake. He couldn’t take any chances. Closing the door behind him, he leaned on the white painted wood.
“Do you know what time it is?” Raekwon finally asked as he answered the phone his voice hard and icy.
“Ay Rae don’t start that shit” a muffled voice replied through the phone. “Who the hell do you think you’re talking to?”
“Who the hell do you think you’re talking to?” [/color] Raekwon said gripping his phone with an unusually strong grip to the point where he could hear the cell phone slightly crack. He’s been playing the gangster for so many years now that he’s gotten tired of it. Everything that the Shades did was everything that Rae didn’t want anything to do with. He was a lover, never a fighter. And yet he was stuck with them. They were family. And he was the only big brother they knew that wasn’t in jail or dead. People found it a shame once they found out that Raekwon rolled with the Shades. At fourteen years old he could have had a future if he stayed in school and off the streets. But when it came down to it, no matter what people thought or what they saw Raekwon never lost sight of who he was or what was right. It was the things he never had that made him stronger. And it was the things he grew to know throughout those six years that he hoped one day would help the teenagers in the Shades who still had a chance. “Look I’m sorry man. I just called to tell you Lil’ J got popped”That is if they lived to see the next day. Raekwon felt his body grow cold, his bare back sliding down the door as he dropped to his knees. He tried to grasp what the guy was saying, and once it was all clear in his head he tried so hard to push it out. But the words kept digging deeper and deeper as they continued on. “Lil J said he wanted you at his ceremony. No lie” Click. [/i] Lil J, or Jasper was one of the kids who were fresh in the gang. One of the kids who Raekwon was slowly working to try to get out of the gang. He never knew why Jasper was so excited to be one of them, so excited to be considered a lame ass gangster that he put his damned life on the line just so he can get street cred. Just thinking about it started to piss Rae off. “Fuck” he whispered quietly under his breath banging his fist against the glass but held off as he saw the girl in the corner of his eye. Easing off he smiled quietly nodding as she said his order was done. Following her to the front counter he calmed down and dealt with what was on his mind the only way he knew how. Let go of it. As long as he was part of the Shades he knew he had to face tragedy. Going to Jasper’s funeral was a wake up call to that. But seeing the girl totaling everything up it made him smile. Every musician loves their fans, but Rae’s fans made him believe he was something more than he really was. “Ninety three dollars and sixty two cents is the grand total” Fuck. Addie better fucking love him after he was gave him this. Nodding he took out his wallet and fished out a fresh hundred dollar bill. Handing it to the girl his eye caught on one of those candy pillows that was supposed to be shaped like the real thing. Shaking his head he knew he had to get the snickers pillow for Addie. Mentioning the pillow the boy ended up spending one hundred dollars and thirteen cents. Checking his watch if he headed home now he could make it by the afternoon. Right around the time Addison would surely be awake. Taking the train or a car would have been a sensible thing to do considering the four hours he’d have to spend on the road. But Rae took his candy apple red motorcycle into Liverpool leaving yesterday night. The funeral was during Shades hours, which meant before most people were awake. And the only way to keep awake is the idea of knowing that with one doze off you could be eating asphalt. “Come into London one day, WONDERFULL show you a great time” he smiled quietly waving the girl a goodbye. Securing the gifts on the back of his bike he swung his leg over and revved up the engine. By the time he was in front of their apartment building the time was eleven fifty six. Smiling to himself he shaved off four minutes off his time. And knowing Addie he probably was still munching on the so called glorious selection of cereal Addison ended up getting. He parked his bike and took the stairs, he hated sleeping for the fear of dying [ thought he would never admit it] and yet all he wanted to do was sleep. Living with this fear for most of his life he knew ways to keep awake, including taking the stairs. He ran two steps at a time finally getting to the apartment door. Balancing the snickers pillow and the chocolate basket [ for some reason that was actually partially made of chocolate ] he unhooked the key from the loop on his black skinnies and opened the door. He couldn’t help but feel excited to see the look on Addie’s face. He could be annoyingly childish and naïve sometimes, but his puppy dog eyes were too cute to deny. “Ay shawty I-“ Raekwon said kicking the door wide open though stopped midsentence feeling a sharp pain to his right foot. BangDropping the basket and the pillow Raekwon looked down and his heart sank as he saw blood oozing from his right perfectly white mint condition hightop vans. He looked at Addie and felt his throat tighten as he saw the gun he hid under the couch in his hands, the safety obviously popped back and the trigger painfully pulled. He gulped, it wasn’t the first time he’s gotten shot but by damn. No one ever gets used to being shot. Feeling his legs give out with another shoot of pain he fell down to the hardwood floor. He held his bleeding foot for a moment curling up into a slight ball. Though as his eye caught on something Raekwon let out an irritated sigh. Grabbing the metal object in his hands he grunted using the glass coffee to stand back up. “Addison Adams…” Raekwon said through gritted teeth holding out a spoon in front of the twenty one year old boy’s face. Considering he had just gotten shot in the foot by your best friend, it would be usual for the person who was shot to yell and scream about getting shot. But as Raekwon started to breath shallowly his grip on the spoon getting tight enough that his knuckles started getting white it was obvious that getting shot seemed to be far away from his mind. “WHAT THE FUCK DID I TELL YOU ABOUT EATING IN THE LIVING ROOM!?” [/size][/blockquote] [/font] finished . 2453 words . never lies by lupe fiasco ; so long ;-; YYOU BYE NEW CLOTHES JUST TO HIDE THOSE SCARS
